On the 15th of August 2014 the whole nation celebrated India’s Independence Day. At Kishor Nagar we had the Flag Hoisting ceremony at 8.00 a.m. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Colonel Sanjay Srivastava (Rtd), who is a resident of Namkum. He is now as Adviser and consultant to the Ministry of Disaster Management in the Jharkhand of Government.
After the Flag Hoisting and the singing of the National Anthem, the Chief Guest took the salute at the Parade of all the students. It was an impressive show. Then he addressed the students and the staff and exhorted them to remember the Freedom Fighters who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for Independence. He requested the boys to work hard and prepare themselves to become responsible citizens.
At 2.00 p.m. there was a friendly football match with the young Jesuits of Ashirvad, this time in Kishor Nagar playground. The team of our senior boys played and managed to equalize the score 2 – 2.
During the match a group of 7 students of the University of Antwerp – Belgium arrived in the campus for a short visit. They are residing in XISS and visiting various parts of Jharkhand.
After the Match there was a vigorous dance session for all the spectators. That was great fun and even the visitors tried to learn a few steps of the Chotanagpur folk dances.
